KOSEP Cultivates AI Experts to Build 'Smart Power Plants'

Korea South-East Power (KOSEP) is taking the lead in fostering AI expert talent and creating a culture of AI utilization, in line with the government's 'Leaping to the Top 3 AI Nations' policy. To respond to the government's 'Leaping to the Top 3 AI Nations' policy, KOSEP has launched an AI expert talent development program, with its goals being concretized through the 'KOEN AI Comprehensive Promotion Plan' established in October last year. In alignment with the Ministry of Interior and Safety's plan to cultivate 20,000 AI champions, KOSEP has announced its goal, through the 'KOEN AI Comprehensive Promotion Plan', to train 280 AI specialists, representing 10% of its total workforce, by 2030.

To this end, in December last year, KOSEP achieved a milestone by having 30 employees collectively obtain AICE, a recognized AI certification, marking it as the first power generation public enterprise to do so. These efforts demonstrate KOSEP's ongoing AI expert talent development program.

To enhance AI utilization capabilities, KOSEP conducted three training sessions for 58 employees across five business sites from August to September last year. Additionally, from September to October, 50 management executives participated in eight sessions of SNS-based AI utilization training. Furthermore, KOSEP plans to issue AI card news starting March 2026 to improve AI utilization proficiency among its employees.
