Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon apologized on a YouTube broadcast, admitting his past exclusion of close associates of party leader Lee Jae-myung from provincial government appointments was a mistake. Ahead of the Democratic Party of Korea's primary for the Gyeonggi governorship, Kim repeatedly apologized for criticism that he had excluded figures from the pro-Lee Jae-myung faction who had aided his victory in the previous local elections, describing it as a 'mistake born from a lack of political experience.'

Appearing on the YouTube channel 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' on the 19th, Kim acknowledged, 'I should have worked more closely with the party members who stood with me as one team, and there were shortcomings.' He added, 'I am sincerely reflecting now and have changed a lot.' When host Kim Eo-jun pointed out the exclusion of pro-Lee faction members and stagnant approval ratings, demanding an explanation, Kim admitted his own deficiencies and emphasized his change.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon highlighted his role as a governor focused on 'getting the job done' ('iljal-leo'), stressing the importance of problem-solving abilities. He distinguished himself from other candidates by classifying his strengths as 'cash assets,' while categorizing lawmaker Choo Mi-ae as 'reform assets' and lawmaker Han Jun-ho as 'future assets.'
