Gyeongsangnam-do Province will disburse a living support fund of 100,000 won per person to all provincial residents to alleviate the financial burden on households struggling with high prices and to stimulate local businesses. Gyeongsangnam-do Governor Park Wan-su announced the plan for the ‘Gyeongnam Provincial Resident Living Support Fund,’ which will provide 100,000 won to each resident, during a press briefing at the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Press Center on March 19, 2026.

This subsidy targets all provincial residents registered in Gyeongsangnam-do as of March 18, 2026, as well as foreign spouses married to Korean nationals and permanent residents.

The total budget required for the disbursement of the living support fund is approximately 328.8 billion won. It will be fully covered by Gyeongsangnam-do’s own budget and allocated as a supplementary budget, without the issuance of municipal bonds. Gyeongsangnam-do has maintained a sound fiscal policy, reducing its debt by approximately 370 billion won compared to 2022.

Applications will be accepted from May 1 to June 30, 2026, either in person at the administrative welfare centers in the applicant’s registered township or village, or online. Recipients can choose to receive the funds as local currency gift certificates or as prepaid cards issued by banks. The funds must be used by July 31, 2026. The subsidy can be used at traditional markets and small businesses within the recipient’s administrative district, but its use is restricted at department stores, large supermarkets, adult entertainment establishments, and businesses with annual sales exceeding 3 billion won.
