Jang Dong-hyuk Honors West Sea Defense Heroes and Victims of Daejeon Fire
People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk commemorated the sacrifices of patriotic heroes and mourned the victims of the Daejeon auto parts factory fire at the Daejeon National Cemetery on the 27th, marking the 11th West Sea Defense Day. Jang stated this while honoring soldiers who sacrificed for the nation and recent victims lost in accidents. On this day, leader Jang visited the Daejeon National Cemetery with party leadership, including Floor Leader Song Un-seok, and honored soldiers who died defending the Northern Limit Line in the West Sea by laying flowers and incense at the memorial tower.
The visit focused on honoring the spirits of those who perished in the ROKS Cheonan sinking, the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, and the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island, known as the "55 Heroes of West Sea Defense," in commemoration of the 11th West Sea Defense Day. Leader Jang and the party leadership visited the gravesites of these fallen soldiers, reflecting on their sacrifices for the nation. After concluding the cemetery visit, Jang paid his condolences and offered flowers at the joint mourning altar at Daejeon City Hall for the victims of the Daejeon auto parts factory fire that occurred on the 20th, praying for their souls.
Meanwhile, People Power Party Floor Leader Song Un-seok on the same day demanded the dismissal of Unification Minister Cho Myung-gyun and claimed that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un threatened that North Korea 'recognizes South Korea as the most hostile state.' Floor Leader Song mentioned on social media that 24 years have passed since the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong and 16 years since the Cheonan sinking and the Yeonpyeong Island shelling, while praying for the repose of the 55 heroes of West Sea Defense. He also pointed out that the current administration is considering not co-sponsoring resolutions on North Korean human rights.
