AI-Generated Fake Health Videos Go Viral, Garnering Hundreds of Thousands of Views

Fake health videos impersonating Professor Lee Guk-jong, created by AI, have spread on YouTube, racking up hundreds of thousands of views. This has been identified as a case of AI technology being misused. The videos, posted on the YouTube channel 'Professor Lee Guk-jong's Advice,' were produced by synthesizing photos and audio of Professor Lee Guk-jong, director of the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital, using the latest AI technology.

The videos were found to contain false information lacking any medical basis. They included unscientific advice for potential heart attack precursors, such as coughing or tapping the chest. Unverified medical information, including purported signs of pancreatic cancer and diabetes blood sugar advice, was also generated and presented through AI technology.

One video focusing on heart attack warning signs alone garnered 690,000 views. Some viewers, mistaking the AI-generated content for genuine advice from the professor, left comments expressing their trust.

In response to this misuse of AI technology, Professor Lee Guk-jong has filed a personal information infringement complaint. The impersonating account has since been deleted following the controversy.
