Big Tech Joins Forces to Combat Online Scams
To combat increasingly sophisticated online fraud, major global tech companies have agreed to join forces using the latest technology. This initiative aims to enhance user safety and prevent digital financial crime.
Eleven major technology and retail companies, including Google and Amazon, recently signed the 'Online Fraud and Abuse Industry Accord.' This agreement involves sharing data on fraud and abuse, and aims to block fraudulent accounts, fake domains, and abuse patterns with advanced technology before they spread across platforms.
Participating companies will share fraud threat data in near real-time, exchanging information on scam networks, tactics, and accounts across platforms and with law enforcement agencies. Companies will expand AI systems for fraud detection, add enhanced identity verification for financial transactions, and provide users with clear methods for reporting scams and requesting support.
