Ulsan City Partners with Big Tech to Foster AI Talent and Drive Industrial Transformation

Ulsan City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with local universities and big tech companies on the 31st for 'AI Talent Cultivation and Acceleration of AI Transformation (AX)'. This agreement, a follow-up to Ulsan City's 'Ulsan-type AI Vision' established in February, outlines the reorganization of the region's industries and the city as a whole around AI.

Under the agreement, Ulsan University and Ulsan College of Science and Technology will collaborate with AWS, a global leader in cloud computing, to develop and operate specialized cloud and AI-based educational programs within their campuses. The two institutions also plan to establish AWS training centers to provide cloud and AI education to students and local businesses.

The roles of participating companies have also been specified. AWS will be responsible for providing internationally standardized training programs, research support, and guidance on AI services and AI transformation (AX). Upstage, a company specializing in large language models (LLMs), will participate in planning AI/AX education reflecting industry demand, technical cooperation, and expert consultations.

Ulsan Mayor Kim Du-gyeom stated, "We will actively support regional talent to grow into global experts and help small and medium-sized enterprises make a comeback through AI."
