Damyang Mayor Jeong Cheol-won Announces Re-election Bid
Jeong Cheol-won, the Damyang County Mayor and the only local government head affiliated with the Jo Guk Innovation Party nationwide, announced on the 8th that he will continue 'four years of completion' by officially declaring his bid for re-election based on the achievements of the past year. The slogan for this declaration of candidacy is 'Once Again Jeong Cheol-won, Together with the County Residents,' emphasizing administrative continuity. In his declaration speech, Mayor Jeong stated, "To complete the uninterrupted development of Damyang, I wish to join hands with the county residents once again."
The core logic Jeong is presenting for his re-election bid is 'continuity.' He asserted that Damyang has confirmed new possibilities through experiential tourism and industrial transition, even amidst the structural crisis of local extinction. He believes it is now time to ensure policies are not halted but lead to tangible results. "Now is the time to push forward without pause and complete it with concrete achievements," he said.
He cited achievements from his first term, including expanding the floating population, building disaster response infrastructure, attracting businesses centered around industrial complexes, and normalizing finances, stating, "We have laid the foundation for a major transformation in Damyang's governance."
In this election, Mayor Jeong will compete against one of the two finalists from the Democratic Party, Park Jong-won and Lee Gyu-hyeon, as well as independent preliminary candidate Choi Hwa-sam.
