KHNP Launches Regional Economic Revitalization Project with SME Development Committee
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) is embarking on a new challenge to revitalize local economies. KHNP has joined hands with the SME Development Committee to push forward a project that will solicit ideas for regional economic revitalization, marking a first for public institutions. The two organizations signed a business agreement on the 13th.
The core of this contest project is to discover and support initiatives directly planned by local governments. The competition categories include revitalization of local commercial districts, fostering local businesses, leading carbon neutrality efforts, and supporting welfare for vulnerable businesses, spanning four sectors.
Selected projects will receive support to establish themselves on the ground, with plans to disseminate successful case studies nationwide and develop them into regional growth models. The total project budget is approximately 1 billion won, with support up to 300 million won per project. This initiative supports projects planned by local governments reflecting local issues, contributing to the establishment of tailored regional economic revitalization models.
Park Cheon-joong, Head of KHNP's Win-Win Cooperation Department, stated that they would strive for the recovery and leap forward of local economies.
