AI Changes Everything

AI is swallowing everything. It is gaining attention as the core driving force bringing massive changes to personal daily lives and industries as a whole. In astrophysics, a black hole is an extreme distortion of spacetime created by a collapsing star. Its gravity is so powerful that even light cannot escape once it crosses the 'event horizon'.

The capital markets were the first to feel this gravity. Just a few years ago, the metaverse, blockchain, and quantum computing were hot topics in Silicon Valley and on Wall Street. However, since the advent of generative AI, these technological agendas have fallen under AI's influence. Currently, AI-related projects have become the primary investment targets in global capital markets. Companies building the metaverse are focusing on developing AI agents, and blockchain firms are trying to demonstrate how their networks can be used for AI data validation. The semiconductor industry has also been reshaped around Nvidia, and even existing industries, from power infrastructure to cooling systems, are redefining their reasons for existence for the sole purpose of 'operating AI data centers'. In the tech industry, there is now only a single prevailing theme: AI. Other fields have become elements that supply energy to this black hole.

Human labor is undergoing 'spaghettification' as it freefalls toward the center of the black hole. This is a phenomenon where celestial bodies are stretched long like noodles due to extreme gravitational differences when approaching a black hole, similar to the reality faced by knowledge workers today. In the past, when technological innovations primarily replaced manual labor or simple repetitive tasks, cognitive workers, represented by white-collar professionals, believed their creativity and logic were beyond the realm of machines. However, the advent of AI, capable of understanding text, writing code, reviewing legal documents, and even creating art, is changing that belief. Professions once considered uniquely human domains, such as lawyers, writers, programmers, and illustrators, are being impacted by AI. The expertise and skills accumulated over a lifetime are now being questioned before the output of AI. This is not merely a matter of job loss; it is shaking the very modern concept of labor through which humanity has realized self-worth and proven social value.

AI is also refracting all light in the realms of culture and social discourse. Epistemological questions about the nature of art, the subject of copyright, and the distinction between truth and fabrication, which were once confined to philosophical discussions, are now becoming practical issues. Humanity's imagination toward technology is being crushed by the immense mass of AI, narrowing towards a single vanishing point.

This gravitational field is now reshaping the structure of state power itself. Conflicts over semiconductor supply chains, regulatory competition over data sovereignty, and moves to preempt AI standards are all signs of this new gravitational force. AI is not merely a subject of industrial policy but has become a national survival strategy. The hierarchy of the 21st-century world order is being rewritten based on which nation can approach the center of this black hole more closely.
