Jung Won-oh Criticizes Oh Se-hoon's 'Hangang Bus' as 'Presidential Campaign Spectacle'
Democratic Party Seoul Mayoral Candidate Jung Won-oh criticized Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon's 'Hangang Bus' policy on the 15th, stating that the current Seoul Metropolitan Government's administration is skewed towards showpiece projects aimed at presidential aspirations. Appearing on the YouTube broadcast 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory Where Humility is Difficult' on the 15th, Jung stated, 'Mayor Oh's municipal administration is flawed from its philosophy.' He added, 'At some point, the owner of municipal administration shifted from the citizens to the mayor, and now the mayor is pursuing what he wants to do, with his sights set on the presidency.' He argued that the administration is pursuing only eye-catching landmark projects like former Seoul Mayor Lee Myung-bak's Cheonggyecheon restoration. Citing the Hangang Bus, the Seoul Ring, and architectural projects on Nodeul Island as examples, he pointed out, 'Mayor Oh is doing these things because he wants to, even though citizens find them unnecessary.' Regarding the Hangang Bus specifically, he remarked, 'It's a 'mental victory' that cannot be healed.' Jung argued, 'Starting the Hangang Bus with the intention of using it for transportation was wrong from the outset, and consequently, safety was pushed aside.'
Jung, who won the party's nomination without a runoff, stated regarding his lead over Mayor Oh in hypothetical head-to-head polls, 'In the end, support will naturally gravitate towards the winning candidate, so we must maintain the current gap.'
On remarks made about former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon during the nomination process, he offered a public apology, stating, 'There were instances where I hurt those who supported me due to a lack of thoughtfulness.'
