Gyeongnam to Distribute High Oil Price Relief Payments Starting April 27th
The government will provide support payments to Gyeongnam residents facing difficulties due to high oil prices. These payments, set to begin on April 27th, will first be disbursed to economically vulnerable households (Phase 1), followed by recipients among the bottom 70% of income earners nationwide (Phase 2).
Phase 1 recipients include approximately 198,000 individuals receiving basic living security benefits and about 80,000 from lower-income brackets and single-parent families. They will receive between 500,000 and 600,000 won, with an additional 50,000 won provided due to the characteristics of non-metropolitan areas.
Residents in depopulated areas will receive an additional preferential support payment ranging from 50,000 to 150,000 won. Areas designated for preferential support in depopulated regions, such as Milyang and Haman, will also receive a special payment of 200,000 won.
The support funds will be distributed via credit/check cards, local currency gift certificates, or prepaid cards, and must be used by August 31st. Payments can only be used within the jurisdiction of the city or county where the recipient was registered as of March 30th.
