11-Year-Old Japanese Boy Found Dead; Stepfather Arrested on Suspicion of Murder
In a case involving an 11-year-old elementary school student found dead three weeks after disappearing in Kyoto, Japan, his stepfather has been arrested on charges of murder and concealing a body.
Adachi went missing on his way to school on the 23rd of last month. While the stepfather claimed he drove Adachi to school, the boy did not appear on the school's CCTV footage. Police pursued leads, including the discovery of Adachi's backpack and shoes at separate locations several kilometers away from the school, before finding his body in a nearby forest on the 13th. No specific external injuries were found on the body.
During the investigation, police identified the stepfather as a suspect through surveillance camera footage, among other evidence. The stepfather has admitted to concealing the body and has made statements indicating he was responsible for the murder.
It was confirmed that Adachi had been living with his stepfather since his mother remarried late last year. However, there were no records of child abuse consultations or reports related to Adachi.
