Circle CEO: China Could Issue Yuan Stablecoin

Circle Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeremy Allaire has indicated that China could issue a 'stablecoin' pegged to the value of the Yuan within the next 3 to 5 years. Speaking in an interview in Hong Kong on the 16th (local time), Allaire added that China views a Yuan stablecoin as a significant opportunity and that discussions have moved beyond conceptualization to policy review.

Allaire noted that full convertibility of the Yuan and a relaxation of capital controls are necessary prerequisites for a Yuan stablecoin to be launched.

This forecast emerges amid the growing trend of digital currencies being integrated into global trade and finance.
