Democratic Party Confirms Lee Jang-seop as Cheongju Mayoral Candidate

Candidate Lee Jang-seop of the Democratic Party has secured his spot in the main race for Cheongju mayor in the June local elections. The Democratic Party conducted its selection process for mayoral and county chief candidates in the Chungbuk region on June 3rd, with Lee winning the runoff election to become the party's nominee for Cheongju mayor.

Lee expressed gratitude and offered words of comfort to his rivals, including fellow contender Park Wan-hee, vowing to lead the party to victory in the main election as 'one team.' Drawing on his experience in the National Assembly and public administration, Lee pledged to build 'Cheongju, a City for Citizens' through 'responsive governance' that incorporates citizens' voices into policy.

He stated, "The real start is from now," and pledged to move beyond words to action to restore Cheongju's pride and usher in a new era. He appealed for continued support from citizens and party members to repay them with victory in the main election.
