Jeonbuk Provincial Assembly Seats Confirmed at 44; Electoral District Redrawing Complete

Ahead of the June 3 nationwide local elections, an amendment to the Public Official Election Act, which expands the number of Jeonbuk provincial assembly seats from 40 to 44, passed the National Assembly's plenary session on the 17th, concluding the electoral district delimitation process.

This delimitation plan includes the expansion of proportional representation seats and regional constituency adjustments. The number of regional constituency seats will increase by one each in Iksan, Gunsan, and Gimje-Buan-gap. Proportional representation seats will increase by two, bringing the total to six.

Jangsu County and Muju County will maintain their current number of seats due to special provisions. This measure is intended to prevent the weakening of representation for agricultural and fishing areas.
