Cho Yong-ik Leads Bucheon Mayoral Candidate Poll at 30.8%
In a survey conducted ahead of the June 3 local elections to determine the Democratic Party's candidate for Bucheon mayor, incumbent Mayor Cho Yong-ik was found to be leading Seo Jin-woong, a former council member. According to results released by Media Tomato, when asked 'Who is more suitable as the Democratic Party candidate for Bucheon mayor election?', 30.8% of all respondents chose Mayor Cho Yong-ik, while former council member Seo Jin-woong received 27.1% support.
Analyzing by political inclination, Mayor Cho Yong-ik garnered 30.4% among moderate voters, surpassing former council member Seo Jin-woong (21.3%). However, among progressive voters, considered a core base of the Democratic Party, former council member Seo Jin-woong narrowly led with 38.3% compared to Mayor Cho Yong-ik's 35.4%. A close contest was also observed among Democratic Party supporters, with Seo Jin-woong at 37.9% against Mayor Cho Yong-ik at 37.1%.
The survey was conducted over two days, April 11-12, among 501 adult men and women aged 18 and above residing in Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province. The margin of error was ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
