Jang Dong-hyuk: 'I Will Decide My Party Role' Amidst Internal Questions
Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, drew a line on pressure regarding his position within the party during a press conference reporting on his U.S. visit on the 20th, stating, "I will decide." He dismissed calls for resignation from some within the party, saying, "As a representative chosen by party members, I decide my own future. My primary duty right now is to do my utmost for victory in the local elections."
At the press conference held at the National Assembly, Jang shared his reflections upon returning from an 8-day, 10-day trip to the United States, defining the visit as a "strategic move to secure victory in the local elections."
He expressed confidence by presenting the achievements of his U.S. trip, including: ▲establishing a hotline with key Republican Party figures ▲securing commitments to resolve visa issues for Korean companies ▲discussing practical economic security cooperation, such as the nuclear-powered submarine construction project.
Regarding the nomination issue for Busan Buk-gap, where a by-election is to be held, Jang stated, "As the main opposition party, our fundamental duty is to field a competitive candidate for the by-election and ensure their victory," dismissing the claim for 'no nomination'.
