Companion Robots to Now Receive National Safety Certification (KS)

Companion robots will now have to undergo national safety standards. The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards has decided to include companion robots in the list of items subject to Korean Standard (KS) certification, ensuring consumers can use them with peace of mind.

Moving forward, these robots will undergo detailed evaluations by the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement before receiving certification, which is expected to further enhance their reliability.

The domestic personal service robot market, which is experiencing stable growth, is at a point where it needs to transition towards qualitative growth based on safety and trust. The introduction of KS certification is expected to contribute to establishing a benchmark for consumers to make informed product choices with confidence.
