Trump Team Holds Urgent Meeting of Strategists Ahead of Midterms
Donald Trump's team held a private meeting with key party strategists ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. The gathering took place at a critical juncture as the Republican Party faces challenges including inflation, rising gas prices, and the former president's low approval ratings, all while needing to secure majority seats in the House and Senate.
Dozens of Republican political consultants from across the country attended the meeting, which aimed to strengthen cooperation and share strategies between the White House political team and consultants assisting midterm candidates.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair is reportedly set to temporarily resign from his post to oversee midterm election strategy. Previously, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair met with cabinet officials in February to discuss midterm messaging. That meeting occurred six months before the elections.
President Trump visited Nevada and Arizona last week to promote the tax cut policies passed by Republicans. The tax cut bill was amended as the 'Tax Cuts for Working Families Act' and includes extensions of Trump's 2017 tax cuts, as well as tax exemptions for tips and overtime pay.
