Democratic Party Lawmaker Park Chan-dae Announces Incheon Mayoral Bid

Lawmaker Park Chan-dae of the Democratic Party has officially announced his bid for the Incheon mayoral post.

Park argued that Incheon, whose growth has stalled, is at a 'golden time' that will determine its destiny to become the heart of South Korea, and he characterized current Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok's administration as 'incompetent,' emphasizing it's time for a change. He pointed out that policies such as the Jemulpo Renaissance, New Hong Kong City, and urban regeneration projects in old downtown areas have not been properly implemented.

Park pledged to make Incheon the heart of South Korea through cooperation with the central government. Furthermore, he stated he would launch a 100-day livelihood recovery project immediately upon taking office and proposed an 'ABC+E' strategy, fostering AI, biotech, K-content, and energy, as Incheon's core growth engines.

Lawmaker Park plans to submit his resignation on the 29th, register as a preliminary candidate, and begin his full-fledged election campaign. A head-to-head contest with Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok is anticipated.
