Facility Director Accused of Sex Crimes Against Disabled Admits to Some Charges in Court

Kim, the director of 'Saekdongwon,' a facility for individuals with severe developmental disabilities, admitted to some assault charges in his first trial but fully denied the primary allegations of sexual abuse and injury against disabled individuals. In a hearing held at the Seoul Central District Court, Kim's defense stated they could not admit to charges of rape and assault causing injury.

The defense attorney questioned the credibility of the victim's testimony and the possibility of the alleged acts, arguing that claims of sexual abuse within the facility's structure were difficult to comprehend.

The court plans to proceed with a full trial, including an on-site inspection scheduled for May 15 to assess the physical feasibility of the case and the reliability of the victim's testimony, followed by witness examinations on May 22. The court explained that the on-site inspection was necessary to directly verify the facility's structure, noise levels, and work patterns.
