Shinhyup Launches 'Happy Home Project' to Support Housing-Vulnerable Children

Shinhyup Social Contribution Foundation is stepping up with 600 million won in support for families of children and adolescents living in poor housing conditions. The 'Happy Home Project' is an initiative that simultaneously promotes improvements in living environments and revitalization of the local economy. On the 24th, Shinhyup Social Contribution Foundation announced that it donated 614 million won to Green Umbrella, marking the full launch of the '2026 Shinhyup Happy Home Project.' This project will target 130 families of children and adolescents with poor housing environments.

The 'Happy Home Project' is Shinhyup's flagship social contribution program, launched in 2019. To date, it has supported 610 households with 2.34 billion won. This year's initiative will utilize 'Jeonju Hanji,' a specialized regional model developed by Shinhyup. Jeonju Hanji, an eco-friendly material excellent for humidity control and with antibacterial/deodorizing functions, will help children live in healthier environments. The project also aims to support local small businesses and the industrial ecosystem by linking with the traditional Hanji industry.

Shinhyup Social Contribution Foundation Chairman Koh Young-chul stated, 'The Shinhyup Happy Home Project aims to go beyond improving housing conditions and enhance the quality of life for future generations.' He added that Shinhyup would continue to engage in various social contribution activities that grow together with local communities.

Amidst the financial sector's social contribution activities evolving from simple donations to 'problem-solving ESG,' Shinhyup's initiative is being recognized as a multifaceted model that simultaneously achieves housing welfare, child support, and local industry revitalization. The use of eco-friendly materials and linkage with the local economy reflect key elements of recent ESG management: Environment (E) and Social (S). This approach is noteworthy as it leverages the strengths of a regional cooperative financial institution to build a differentiated social contribution strategy.
