Google to Invest Up to $40 Billion in AI Startup Anthropic

Google's parent company Alphabet announced on the 24th (local time) that it will invest up to $40 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic.

The investment will involve an immediate cash infusion of $10 billion based on a company valuation of $350 billion, with an additional $30 billion to be provided upon achievement of performance milestones.

Google plans to provide 5 gigawatts (GW) of computing capacity over the next five years to expand Anthropic's computing capabilities.

This investment comes shortly after Anthropic secured $5 billion from Amazon, and Anthropic is reportedly considering an initial public offering (IPO) as early as this October.
