Government to Begin Distributing High Oil Price Relief Fund Starting April 27
The first round of applications for the government's high oil price relief fund will begin on April 27.
This support fund is being provided to alleviate the financial burden on low-income households whose real income has decreased due to high oil prices. It will be distributed differently per person, ranging from KRW 100,000 to KRW 600,000, targeting the bottom 70% of income earners, with the perceived effect varying based on each household's economic situation.
During the first week of applications, a day-of-the-week system will be implemented based on the last digit of one's birth year to prevent congestion. Under this system, individuals whose birth year ends in 1 or 6 can apply on Mondays, 2 or 7 on Tuesdays, 3 or 8 on Wednesdays, 4 or 9 on Thursdays, and 5 or 0 on Fridays. This approach is intended to prevent a surge in applications within a limited period and reduce system overload, thereby ensuring an efficient distribution process. After the period when the day-of-the-week system is in effect, eligible recipients can apply on any desired date.
The disbursed funds can be used at traditional markets, small business establishments, and other designated vendors.
