Rival Candidates Han Dong-hoon, Park Min-shik Cross Paths at Busan Alumni Event
Park Min-shik, former Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, and Han Dong-hoon, former leader of the People Power Party, met for the first time on the 26th at an official local event amid their competition for the nomination in the Busan Buk-gu Gap by-election. Park, wearing a red jacket—the PPP's symbolic color—attended the event, while Han was dressed in a white shirt.
The organizers, citing the sensitive timing, limited microphone use to alumni and did not give Han an opportunity to speak. Han, however, moved around the venue, promising solidarity with and achievements for local residents.
He exchanged a brief handshake with Park without conversation before they departed in different directions. A woman at the event shouted 'Traitor!' at Han.
Responding to Park's characterization of him as an 'intruder' on YouTube, Han commented, 'When people get a bit desperate, their words can become harsh, but I don't dwell on it much.'
