Daegu City to Use AI to Preemptively Diagnose Land Subsidence Risks

Daegu City will leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect the risks of ground subsidence (land collapse) in advance. The city plans to conduct surveys using AI technology on 2,745 km of city roads from May 27 to December 28.

Vehicles equipped with AI road analysis cameras will travel along roads to collect data on early signs of ground subsidence, which will then be quantitatively evaluated through an AI analysis model. Priority will be given to areas where past land subsidence has occurred or where major construction projects are underway nearby.

Sections showing multiple precursor symptoms will undergo further investigation using equipment such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to identify underground voids before prompt restoration.
