Rent-Free Housing Support Offers Hope to Young Job Seekers
A housing support program offering a 500,000 won deposit and zero monthly rent is helping stabilize the lives of young job seekers and boost their employment rates.
The program was established to alleviate the high housing cost burden for single young adults. It provides an environment similar to standard studios or officetels, but its key feature is the absence of monthly rent.
Jeong Seong-hwa, director of the 'Cheongnyeon On-ga' center, explained that residents, including one who had only completed middle school, experienced positive changes such as passing the GED and exploring vocational training programs. Support like rent exemption serves as a safety net that shortens young people's job search periods.
