Damyang County Mayor Race Narrows to Three-Way Contest; Incumbent Faces Democratic Challenge

The Damyang County Mayor election has been confirmed as a three-way race with three candidates, including the incumbent mayor, running for the position.

Jeong Cheol-won, the current Damyang County Mayor belonging to the New Reform Party, is seeking a second term. Preliminary candidate Jeong Cheol-won has pledged to create a healing city based on the fermented food industry and to provide administrative support from birth to high school graduation.

Democratic Party preliminary candidate Park Jong-won and independent preliminary candidate Choi Hwa-sam are running with pledges for regional development and livelihood stability, respectively. Park Jong-won aims to reclaim the Democratic Party's influence by promising a 30% increase in the agricultural budget and the payment of a Damyang-style basic income.
