President's Approval Rating Dips to 61%, Down 3 Percentage Points

Gallup Korea Poll Results for the Second Week of May 2026: Presidential Approval Rating Stands at 61%

Presidential Job Performance Evaluation

A survey conducted by Gallup Korea from May 12-14, 2026, among 1,011 adult respondents nationwide found that 61% approved of the president's job performance. Meanwhile, 28% disapproved, and 11% offered no opinion.

Compared to the previous survey on April 30, 2026, the approval rating for 'doing well' decreased by 3 percentage points to 61%. The disapproval rating for 'doing poorly' rose by 2 percentage points to 28%, marking the third consecutive week of increase. 'No opinion' also rose by 1 percentage point to 11%, also increasing for the third consecutive week.

In comparison to the survey on April 23, 2026, the approval rating for 'doing well' fell by 6 percentage points, while the disapproval rating for 'doing poorly' increased by 3 percentage points. 'No opinion' also saw a 3 percentage point rise.

Party Support Ratings

In the party support poll, the Democratic Party of Korea garnered 45% support. The People Power Party received 23% support, while 24% of respondents were undecided or had no party affiliation.

Compared to the previous poll on April 30, 2026, the Democratic Party's support rating decreased by 1 percentage point to 45%. The People Power Party's support rose by 2 percentage points to 23%. The proportion of undecided respondents decreased by 3 percentage points to 24%.

When compared to the survey on April 23, 2026, the Democratic Party's support rating dropped by 3 percentage points, and the People Power Party's support increased by 3 percentage points. The undecided segment decreased by 2 percentage points.
