Discussions surrounding unification between Park Min-sik of the People Power Party and independent candidate Han Dong-hoon are heating up for the National Assembly by-election in Busan's Buk-gu Gap, scheduled to take place alongside the June 3rd local elections.

People Power Party lawmaker Jin Jong-oh, referencing a case of conservative party candidate unification in another region, urged the party leadership to actively engage in unification discussions for the integration and reconstruction of conservative forces. Rep. Jin emphasized that unification is not for a specific candidate but a responsible action to unite supporters' will and reduce political confusion. Figures within the 'pro-Han Dong-hoon' faction are also voicing demands for the People Power Party leadership to participate in unification talks.

Park Sung-hoon, spokesperson for the People Power Party's Central Election Committee, stated that unification is not being considered for the Busan Buk-gu Gap by-election. In contrast, Supreme Council member Cho Gwang-han expressed a positive stance, suggesting the possibility of reviewing a unification plan centered on candidate Han Dong-hoon.

These discussions on candidate unification are not only expected to influence the outcome of the Busan Buk-gu Gap by-election held concurrently with the June 3rd local elections but could also serve as a significant variable in the future integration and reconstruction process of the conservative camp.
