South Korea, US Leaders Ask Trump for Role in Korean Peninsula Peace

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation on May 17.

During the call, the two leaders shared the results of the U.S.-China summit and discussed issues concerning peace on the Korean Peninsula. They also exchanged views on economic and security cooperation matters, as well as the situation in the Middle East. The call included sharing the outcomes of the U.S.-China summit with South Korea and reaffirming the U.S. role in maintaining peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The two leaders also expressed anticipation for their reunion at the G7 summit next month, indicating they looked forward to meeting again at the upcoming Group of Seven summit scheduled for mid-next month.
