AI Tech Accelerates Innovation Drive

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced an investment of 12.6 trillion won in South Korea by 2031 at 'AWS Summit Seoul 2026.' AWS Chief Financial Officer (CFO) John Felton stated that this investment is the largest greenfield investment by a single foreign company in Korea's history.

AWS expects this investment to create 12,300 new jobs, contribute 15 trillion won to the domestic Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and lead to over 300,000 individuals completing cloud technology training.

AWS presented 'AI-Driven Development' (AI-DLC) as a new development standard and highlighted 'Agentic AI' and 'Physical AI' as directions for innovation. LG Electronics' MS Business Division reported a doubling of productivity through the adoption of AI-DLC. Samsung Electronics built an autonomous cloud operation agent based on AWS Bedrock Agent Core, reducing fault recovery time by over 90%.

To support Korea's goal of becoming a '2030 Physical AI World No. 1 Nation,' AWS announced the 'Physical AI Frontier Program,' targeting applications in the physical world such as robotics, manufacturing, and autonomous driving.

AWS also unveiled 'AWS Transform,' a legacy modernization service that analyzes and reconstructs old codebases using AI. Jason Bennett, AWS Vice President of Global Startups, introduced 'Kiro,' an AI-powered development tool, and 'Amazon Quick,' an agentic app for business tasks. Noll universe stated that through AWS Transform, they converted 1.5 million lines of legacy code in 10 hours, reducing development costs by 50%.
