President's Approval Rating Rises 3 Percentage Points to 64%

According to the results of Gallup Korea's regular poll in the fourth week of May 2026, the president's job performance approval rating rose by 3 percentage points to 64%. The disapproval rating remained at 28%, while undecided opinions fell by 3 percentage points to 8%.

Presidential Job Performance Evaluation

Gallup Korea's survey, conducted from May 19 to 21, 2026, among 1,002 adults nationwide, showed that 64% approved of the president's job performance. Disapproval stood at 28%, with 8% expressing no opinion.

Compared to the previous poll (announced May 14), the approval rating increased by 3 percentage points from 61% to 64%. The disapproval rating remained unchanged at 28%, and undecided opinions decreased by 3 percentage points from 11% to 8%.

In comparison to the survey results announced on April 30, the presidential job performance approval rating was the same at 64%. However, the disapproval rating had risen by 2 percentage points from 26% to 28%. At that time, undecided opinions decreased by 2 percentage points from 10% to 8%.

Party Support Ratings

Regarding party support, the Democratic Party of Korea maintained 45%, unchanged from the previous poll. The People Power Party saw a 1 percentage point decrease to 22%, while those with no party affiliation rose by 2 percentage points to 26%.

In the survey announced on April 30, the Democratic Party of Korea had 46%, the People Power Party had 21%, and unaffiliated voters were at 27%. Compared to the results of the May 21 survey, the Democratic Party of Korea decreased by 1 percentage point, the People Power Party increased by 1 percentage point, and unaffiliated voters decreased by 1 percentage point.

Economic Outlook for the Next Year

For the economic outlook over the next year, 38% responded that they expect it to 'improve'. 31% anticipated it would 'worsen', and 27% believed it would remain 'about the same'.
