Hancom, LG AI Forge Alliance for HWP Document Generation AI

A feature that automatically generates Hangul documents (HWP, HWPX) using LG AI Research's AI technology with Hancom's artificial intelligence (AI) assistant is set to be developed. On May 22, Hancom CEO Kim Yeon-soo and LG AI Research Head Im Woo-hyung signed a strategic business alliance agreement at the LG AI Research building in Magok, Seoul. The two companies announced plans to target the public and private AI markets through the convergence of AI technologies.

The collaboration will involve supplying Hancom's AI agent technology to LG AI Research's generative AI platform 'ChatEXAONE'. Major generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Gemini currently struggle with directly generating Hangul document formats like HWP and HWPX, a challenge expected to be resolved through the cooperation between ChatEXAONE and Hancom AI Agent.

This agreement builds upon a memorandum of understanding signed in December 2024, and future collaboration areas such as on-device AI, AI-based document automation, B2B AI solutions, and global market expansion will be explored.

LG AI Research Head Im Woo-hyung stated, "The combination of K-EXAONE and Hancom's unique document AI technology will create significant synergy," adding, "We will contribute to securing Korea's AI sovereignty." Hancom CEO Kim Yeon-soo remarked, "This agreement is a powerful momentum for our evolution into an agentic OS company," and expressed his commitment to "solidifying market leadership."
