Cho Seung-rae, the Democratic Party of Korea's General Election Strategy Headquarters Chief, pointed out that remarks made by Kim Yong-nam, a candidate for Pyeongtaek B in Gyeonggi Province, belittling Cho Kuk, a candidate for the Rebuilding Korea Party, were unhelpful. He urged caution with such statements, saying, "Using a lot of negative, or disparaging language, does not really help in gaining votes."

The previous day, Candidate Kim Yong-nam stated during a campaign rally in Pyeongtaek, referring to Cho Kuk, a candidate for the Rebuilding Korea Party, campaigning with a bruised eye, "How envious must one be of the color blue to make oneself look so black and blue?"

At a press conference held at the National Assembly that day, Chief Strategist Cho Seung-rae emphasized, "It is necessary to convey positive messages as much as possible," and added, "If there are inappropriate remarks or actions, it is necessary to correct them immediately."
