Pyeongtaek-eul Candidates Divided on Electoral Alliance
Candidates in the Pyeongtaek-eul constituency's National Assembly by-election revealed their stances on unification at a candidate invitation forum on the 22nd.
Candidate Jo Gook (Cho Kuk Party) held up an 'O' sign, while candidates Kim Yong-nam (Democratic Party of Korea) and Kim Jae-yeon (Progressive Party) held up 'X' signs. Candidate Kim Yong-nam stated his intention to complete the race, saying, 'Running under different parties means having different goals.' Candidate Kim Jae-yeon also said, 'As the leader of the Progressive Party, I want to finish the race in Pyeongtaek until the end.' Candidate Jo Gook hinted at the possibility of unification, stating, 'I will obey if the people command it.'
Candidates Yoo Ui-dong (People Power Party) and Hwang Kyo-ahn (Freedom and Innovation) left the door open for unification. Candidate Yoo said, 'It would be difficult to refuse if the party demands it,' while Candidate Hwang stated, 'I will do everything for victory.'
