Nvidia has announced its expansion into the $200 billion AI inference market with the unveiling of its new central processing unit (CPU), 'Vera.' CEO Jensen Huang presented the new CPU as its next growth engine, signaling its ambition to broaden its influence in the AI sector. Huang stated that the new 'Vera' CPU will open up a new market opportunity worth $200 billion for Nvidia.

As the AI market shifts from large-scale model training to operational speed and cost-efficiency for AI services, Nvidia is responding to increased competition in the inference market from rivals like AMD and Intel with Vera. Vera is slated for release by the end of the year, offered as a platform combined with the Rubin GPU. CEO Jensen Huang indicated that supply shortages are expected to persist for the entire lifecycle of the Vera-Rubin platform.

Nvidia has also increased its supply chain investment to $119 billion. It announced an $80 billion share buyback and dividend increase. Alongside these moves, Nvidia reported earnings that exceeded market expectations and provided a second-quarter revenue forecast of $91 billion, surpassing Wall Street's projections.
