One day before the Jeonbuk Provincial Governor election on June 3rd, the mudslinging between major candidates reached its peak.

The Democratic Party's Election Committee pointed out that Candidate Kim has been immersed in political agitation, calling the party's support for the Jeonbuk regional election 'a power struggle for party leadership' and echoing claims by some who wish for the Democratic Party's division.

Earlier, at a press conference at the provincial council, Candidate Kim had criticized the Democratic Party's focus on Jeonbuk, arguing that the party should be concentrating its efforts on other regions like Seoul, Daegu, Busan, and Gyeongnam, and that this focus was part of [Chairman] Jeong Cheong-rae's personal bid to secure re-election as party leader.
