Could Your Samsung Galaxy Phone Be Used Instead of a Passport?

Samsung Electronics has launched the 'Samsung ID with CLEAR' service in collaboration with security company CLEAR. This service allows U.S. passport holders to streamline identity verification processes using compatible Galaxy smartphones.

'Samsung ID with CLEAR' is a free digital ID service integrated into Samsung Wallet, currently usable at over 250 TSA (Transportation Security Administration) checkpoints across the U.S. that support digital identity verification. The service is expected to enable users to carry their U.S. passport information on their Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

To add Samsung ID with CLEAR to Samsung Wallet, users should open the Samsung Wallet app, navigate to the 'Quick Access' tab, and tap the '+' button. Then, select 'Digital ID', choose 'Samsung ID with CLEAR', and tap 'Get Card'. Following the on-screen prompts, CLEAR will verify the U.S. passport information added to Samsung Wallet, and Samsung Wallet will store the digital ID on the user's phone.
