The National Election Commission (NEC) stated on June 4 that the ballot paper shortages experienced at some polling stations during the local election's main vote on June 3 do not constitute grounds for postponing the election or holding a re-election.

While apologizing to the public for the confusion and inconvenience caused by the ballot paper shortages, the NEC clarified its stance that the issue does not meet the criteria for a re-election under the Public Official Election Act.

The NEC explained that vote counting, which is currently underway, cannot be halted due to the ballot paper shortage, and ballots must be transferred to the counting centers. The commission added that it would do its utmost to investigate the full circumstances of the incident and prepare measures to prevent recurrence immediately after the counting is completed.
