SK and TSMC Boost AI Semiconductor Collaboration

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won met with TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei in Taiwan to strengthen cooperation in the future artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor sector.

The meeting solidified the commitment of SK Group and TSMC to more closely collaborate on the development and production of key semiconductors such as high-bandwidth memory (HBM), in line with the AI market's growth.

Addressing memory supply bottlenecks within the global AI value chain has emerged as a critical challenge, and combining SK hynix's AI memory technology with TSMC's foundry capabilities is expected to offer practical solutions to this issue.

An official from SK hynix stated that the two companies plan to accelerate their lead in the 'customized AI memory' market, catering to the diverse needs of global big tech firms. The official added that through its robust partnership with TSMC, SK hynix aims to solidify its market leadership by timely supplying high-performance products required by the AI era.
