Tension Escalates Amid Middle East Ceasefire Talks Stalemate

Ceasefire negotiations in the Middle East are at a standstill, leading to heightened tensions. U.S. President Donald Trump announced via social media on the 4th (local time) that final negotiations to end the war with Iran are underway. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on the same day that there has been no substantial progress in talks with the U.S.

The U.S.-brokered ceasefire proposal has been effectively nullified after Lebanon's Iran-backed militia Hezbollah announced its rejection. Following Iran's retaliatory attacks the previous day, Israeli airstrikes and rocket attacks have continued in Lebanon. Hezbollah's Deputy Secretary-General Naim Qassem criticized the U.S.-brokered ceasefire proposal, stating it failed to present any substantial figures or statistical achievements for the negotiations.

Amidst this situation, international oil prices saw a slight decline, halting a three-day upward trend, as expectations for the U.S. ceasefire announcement for Lebanon were dashed.
