Fair Trade Commission Chief Joo Byung-ki Faces Calls for Clarification Over Election Remarks
An explanation has been requested regarding a post made by Fair Trade Commission Chairman Joo Byung-ki on Facebook concerning the results of the June 3 local elections.
Chairman Joo had posted remarks to the effect of saying, "It is bitter that citizens' exercise of their rights aligns so closely with the order of money," in reference to the high vote share for the People Power Party in certain regions.
The post was deleted approximately 17 hours later, and criticism arose that it violated the duty of political neutrality for public officials.
