Song Eon-seok Resigns as PPP Floor Leader, Declares Party's New Beginning
Song Eon-seok, the floor leader of the People Power Party (PPP), announced his resignation on the 5th, ten days before his term was set to expire.
Speaking at a party general meeting, Song explained the background of his resignation, stating, "The people's will conveyed through the election results is clear. The People Power Party has been given the weighty task of reflecting and innovating with a humbler stance." He added, "In line with this public sentiment, I believe the party needs a new start. I hope the PPP can move forward again by promptly electing a new floor leader."
The People Power Party aims to elect its next floor leader early next week. Following the general meeting, Kwak Gyu-taek, the party's chief spokesperson, told reporters, "We'll likely need to hold the election early next week." He added, "The election management committee will probably have its first meeting today, and the timeline should become clearer after that meeting."
Song Eon-seok concluded by emphasizing, "Let's remember just one thing. Let's definitely win the next general election."
