Elderly Worker Dies After Falling During Banner Removal in Gumi

An elderly worker in his 70s died after falling while removing an election banner in Gumi, Gyeongbuk Province.

The accident occurred around 10:47 AM on the 6th in Seonsan-eup, Gumi-si, when the worker, who was on a cherry picker removing a banner from the building's exterior wall, fell 7 meters.

Fire authorities, who were dispatched after receiving the report, declared the worker dead during transport to the hospital. Fire officials suspect the accident occurred because the vehicle supporting the cherry picker sank due to ground subsidence and are investigating the exact cause.
