Prosecution Seeks Two-Year Sentence for Former President Yoon Suk-yeol on Election Law Violation Charges
Former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who was indicted on charges of disseminating false information concerning former Yongsan Tax Office chief Yoon Woo-jin and Jeon Seong-bae of "Geonjin Beopsa" during the 20th presidential election campaign, has had a two-year prison sentence recommended by prosecutors.
During the closing arguments for the public election law violation case held at the Seoul Central District Court on the 8th, the special prosecutor's team led by Min Jung-gi requested the sentence, emphasizing that disseminating false information that obstructs the public's sound judgment is a very serious crime.
The special prosecutor's team added that following the former president's remarks, various suspicions subsided, serving as the backdrop that allowed him to maintain his position as a leading presidential candidate.
