Trump Nominates Blanch as Attorney General Candidate

U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated his confidant Todd Blanche, the acting Attorney General, as the candidate for the vacant federal Justice Department chief position.

On April 2, President Trump announced via the social media platform Truth Social that Pam Bondi, the first Attorney General for his second administration, would return to the private sector, and had previously signaled that Deputy Attorney General Blanche would serve as acting head.

According to the White House website, President Trump sent the nomination of Blanche as Attorney General candidate to the Senate on the 8th local time. The federal Attorney General must be confirmed by the Senate before taking office.

Candidate Blanche is considered one of President Trump's closest associates, having previously served as one of President Trump's lawyers during the previous Joe Biden administration, when Trump faced criminal charges.
