Specific measures to elevate economic cooperation between South Korea and Central Asian countries have been discussed. The focus was on strengthening collaboration in securing essential resources like energy and critical minerals, and expanding cooperation in future industries such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology utilization.

Attendees at the meeting assessed that there are significant cooperation possibilities between the two sides, considering Central Asia's growth potential, energy and mineral resources, and its strategic value as a logistics hub. They agreed on expanding cooperation in supply chains for crude oil, natural gas, and critical minerals, as well as in future industries like AI, digital transformation, and renewable energy.

The government plans to prepare for the successful hosting of the 2026 Korea-Central Asia Summit, scheduled for September, through these collaborations and to achieve tangible cooperation outcomes. Second Vice Minister Heo Jang explained that the importance of Central Asia is growing as a resource-rich nation and a strategic crossroads connecting Europe and Asia, amidst increasing supply chain uncertainties due to the Russia-Ukraine war and geopolitical instability in the Middle East. Vice Minister Heo stated that policy proposals and cooperation ideas discussed at the meeting would be reflected in future policy formulation and summit preparations.
