Presidential Approval Rating Drops 9 Points to 57%
According to a public opinion poll released by NBS on June 11, the approval rating for the president's job performance stood at 57%. The disapproval rating recorded 33%. This represents a 9 percentage point drop in approval and a 9 percentage point rise in disapproval compared to the survey conducted on May 21. Compared to the survey on May 7, approval ratings decreased by 10 percentage points, while disapproval ratings increased by 10 percentage points.


The president's job performance approval rating has seen a downward trend for three consecutive surveys. The approval rating, which was 67% on May 7, saw a slight decrease to 66% on May 21, and further dropped to 57% in the latest survey on June 11. Conversely, the disapproval rating has been on an upward trend for three consecutive surveys. The disapproval rating, at 23% on May 7, rose to 24% on May 21, and increased to 33% in the current survey. The gap between the approval and disapproval ratings widened from 24 percentage points to 33 percentage points.
Party Support Ratings
In the party support rating survey, the Democratic Party of Korea garnered 41% support. The People Power Party recorded 25%. The gap between the two parties' support ratings is 16 percentage points, which is outside the margin of error (±3.1%p).
This indicates a 4 percentage point drop in the Democratic Party of Korea's support from 45% compared to the survey results on May 21. The People Power Party's support rating increased by 5 percentage points during the same period, from 20% to 25%.
Compared to the survey on May 7, the Democratic Party of Korea's support rating fell by 5 percentage points from 46% to 41%. The People Power Party's support rating rose by 7 percentage points, from 18% to 25%. While the gap between the two parties' support ratings was 28 percentage points in the May 7 survey, it narrowed to 16 percentage points in the June 11 survey.
